Why We Started

Atelier Nusa lahir dari keresahan sederhana: terlalu banyak rumah di Lombok yang dibangun dengan desain "copy-paste" dari Jakarta atau Bali tanpa mempertimbangkan iklim, angin, dan cara hidup masyarakat lokal.

We started this studio because we believed Lombok deserves architecture that belongs here. Not imported styles dropped onto tropical land, but designs born from understanding the site the salt air of Senggigi, the heat of Mataram, the ocean winds of Kuta Mandalika.

Sasak Wisdom, Modern Living

There's real wisdom in traditional Sasak building how berugaq breathe, how courtyards create privacy, how thatched roofs shed monsoon rain. We learn from centuries of island architecture. But we're not building museums. Our job is to blend that wisdom with how people live today.

Materials That Survive Lombok

A material that works in Jakarta may fail in coastal Senggigi within two monsoon seasons. We select materials based on how they age in Lombok's specific conditions like salt air near Gili, high humidity in Mataram, intense UV across the southern coast. That local knowledge keeps buildings standing strong for decades.

Design That Gets Built Right

Beautiful drawings mean nothing if they can't be built well with Lombok's local workforce and supply chain. Because we handle both design and construction, every idea gets tested against real world buildability. We know which contractors deliver, which suppliers are reliable, and how to keep quality tight from Mataram to Lombok Timur.

Climate as a Design Tool

Lombok's weather isn't a problem to solve. It's a design input. Deep overhangs for rain protection, cross ventilation instead of full AC dependency, shaded outdoor living spaces. Good tropical architecture doesn't fight the climate; it uses it.

The People Behind the Studio

Atelier Nusa is a small, focused team of architects, engineers, and builders who chose to work in Lombok not because it's trendy, but because this is home. We know the island's rhythms, its rainy seasons, its soil types, its best stone quarries.

Every project gets direct attention from our principal architects. No layers of account managers between you and the people actually designing your building. When you call us, you talk to the team doing the work.

Shaping Lombok's Built Future

Lombok is growing fast, new resorts in Kuta Mandalika, villas along the Senggigi coast, residential clusters expanding across Mataram. We want that growth to produce buildings that respect the island's character, not erase it.

Our vision is simple: every building we design should make Lombok more beautiful, not less. Architecture that future generations will be proud of, built by people who genuinely care about this place.
