This project began as a renovation request. From the outset, the client had one clear concern: they did not want a full demolition that could significantly increase construction costs.
As both architect and builder, we approached this as a strategic design opportunity rather than a limitation. We conducted a thorough assessment of the existing structure and spatial configuration, identifying which elements could be retained and optimized instead of rebuilt.
Rather than starting from scratch, we focused on preserving the main structural system wherever possible. By maintaining the existing foundation and primary framework, we were able to avoid unnecessary structural alterations and prevent cost escalation.
The intervention was directed toward spatial reconfiguration, functional improvement, and architectural refinement. Layout adjustments were carefully designed to enhance clarity, efficiency, and overall living quality while respecting the integrity of the existing building.
This methodology reflects Atelier Nusa's core commitment: delivering architecture that is thoughtful, responsible, and buildable. We believe good design is not about excess, but about precision, making strategic decisions that balance aesthetics, function, constructability, and budget discipline.
The project is currently under construction, with our team managing the build process to ensure the design intent is faithfully executed on site.
